Future Plans
We are constantly on the look-out for new assistive technology which will help older people to continue to live independently at home.
iPad initiative
In partnership with Bristol Charities, we are exploring the potential offered by tablet computers to help isolated older people to live independently in the community. A pilot in Henbury is looking at how the iPad can be used as a tool to access information about local services, communicate with friends and family, shop on-line and provide entertainment.
Research into needs
We are collaborating with the University of the West of England (UWE) on a research project identifying what are the most pressing needs in relation to those who require assistance with independent living. The results of this study should help to guide us on what technology will make the most difference to keeping people living independently and safely in their own homes.
